Public Water/Acid Mine Drainage/Sewage Treatment Plant
Services in PA
Water quality and safety are extremely important to Norac Laboratory, Inc. in our current age of detritus waste, and hydraulic fracturing. Even if we feel we can trust a spring or well that has been serving an area for generations, how do you know the quality of what is coming out? Our modern times count on the regularity provided by public water systems.
Testing public water for its safe contents is something that needs to be done, when it comes to safety. Providing assurance that drinking water includes analysis for common water quality problems, microbiological contamination, and provides recommendations for the need for water treatment devices, such as softeners, reverse osmosis units, distillation, neutralizers, chlorination systems, ultraviolet or UV systems.
Acid Mine Drainage
One of the most serious threats to water comes from mines that drain acid. This toxic drainage can contaminate rivers, streams, and life in around those waters for hundreds—maybe thousands—of years. Ore metal mines are often rich in sulfide minerals. The exposure of these sulfides to water and air combine to form sulfuric acid, which can spread and cause erosion and damage.
The damage keeps on giving, and many mines require water treatment “in perpetuity,” because of the drainage and hazardous metals leaching into the waterways. While it may seem easy enough to pursue a mining company for damages, it becomes an economic and ecological burden to the public once a company files for bankruptcy or refuses to cover water treatment costs.
Norac Laboratories can help with testing samples of the soil and water, and provide possible solutions to keep this kind of problem in check, and monitor the dangers of these areas when it comes to the safety of the people around them.
Sewage Treatment Plants
Removing the majority of contaminants from wastewater or sewage produces a liquid that can be disposed of in the natural environment. Because of its toxic nature, sewage must be conveyed in appropriate ways and is subject to regulation and controls. Sewage, for our illustrative purposes, is the foul liquid from toilets, baths, showers, kitchen, etc., that is disposed of in the sewers.
Norac Laboratory, Inc. is a leading provider of BOD and related testing for wastewater treatment plants covering all of Pennsylvania. Our efficient and effective testing permits you to take back control of your sewage treatment plant testing costs. We are able to provide testing for CBOD, BOD, TSS, Fecal Coliform, Ammonia Nitrogen, or other wastewater testing.
Sending these tests to our lab means you no longer need to perform state proficiency testing, and you will no longer need to maintain state lab accreditation for keeping it in-house, either. Contact Norac Labs to find out more about how we can help you manage and consolidate your sewage treatment plant evaluations.
